Program Support Assistant (FCCO) Internal

Duties of the position include and are not limited to:
Reviews and approves consults for VA Community Care from VA healthcare providers, screening for appropriateness, compliance with Non-VA Care Coordination (NVCC) policy, duplication and other identified expectations. Ensures legal requirements governing eligibility and entitlement are met and renders decisions on eligibility independently and in collaboration with other non-VA medical care staff. Interprets policy for patients, their families, agency employees and Veterans service organizations. Prepares necessary authorization documents for vendors and patients. Has extensive phone contact with Veteran patients who have authorized or emergent episodes of non VA medical care to facilitate Ensures appropriate documentation is maintained in VA records. Coordinate receipt of proper medical documentation from admission and outpatient care sources. Alerts appropriate clinical providers for availability of non-VA Medical care documentation to ensure appropriate hand-off occur between VA and non-VA providers. Collaborates with Veteran patient and non-VA medical care providers regarding authorized non-VA medical care. Coordinates scheduling between Veteran patient and vendors Tracks appointments to facilitate the progress of patient's care. Appropriately refers clinical concerns associated with non-VA care episode to RN Case Manager. Has extensive phone contact with Veteran patients who have authorized or emergent episodes of non-VA care. Coordinates the interaction of the Veteran Patient with the non-VA vendor. Addresses Veteran's concerns regarding additional services, ensuring when necessary the authorization is amended Serves as initial contact point of contact for any questions the Veteran patient may have during the entire episode of authorized medical care. Researches billing issues for patients and forward to appropriate department. Collaborates daily with the RN Case Managers to facilitate appropriate case management of authorized episodes of non-VA medical care. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled such as experience as a Voucher Examiner that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include:
Skill in applying rules of procedures concerning eligibility and benefits of medical care, receiving and approving consults, preparing authorizations for medical care and knowledge of the Mission Act Medical Care. To receive credit for these skills, they must be documented in your resume. Education:
As a general rule, education is not creditable above the GS-05 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
