As an HR Assistant (Employee Relations) in the Human Resources Management Service of the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System, you will assist a Human Resources Specialist (ER) with work related to conduct, performance, attendance, incentive awards, workers compensation, retirement, etc as assigned. You will perform limited technical projects such as advising employees and supervisors on minor employee problems, or explaining the rights of management and employees to resolve complains. Provide advice and assistance to employees and managers by gathering and researching information requested and by processing actions in matters related to conduct, performance, attendance, incentive awards and dispute resolution. The following list of duties is not all inclusive:
Responsible for assuring timely accomplishment of assigned workload Monitors the status and progress of work and makes adjustments based on established priorities. Provides advice to employees regarding the appropriate requirements for requesting annual leave, advanced annual leave, sick leave, advance sick leave, Leave without Pay (LWOP), Voluntary Leave Transfer Program, Family Medical Leave Act and the Family Friendly Leave act, in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and procedures. Assist managers and supervisors in establishing, maintaining, and monitoring effective performance management programs to reward employee performance, and formal and informal award programs to provide employee incentives and recognition. Performs work in support of the Workers' Compensation program. Provide advisory services on the Federal employment retirement and disability retirement to the employees at this medical center. Provide management advisory service on disciplinary and adverse actions. Assists the HR Specialist (ER) with establishing, maintaining, and closing case files or systems or legal records, annotates indices and status records, compiles official documents and status reports, and locates and abstracts data from files and records, resolving documentation inconsistencies, status of records and due date for response or other required actions. Provides clerical assistance, such as reports, creating excel spreadsheets, completing electronic files, memos, filing, copying case files and requests, answering the phones and taking accurate messages, collating and other processes that must be accomplished in a timely manner. The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-5 for GS-6 or GS-6 for GS-7) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
practical experience as it relates to retirement, insurance, injury compensation and other employee benefit programs. Demonstrated mastery of interpersonal interactions; collaborative communication; direction, instruction and persuasion. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
