Summary:
Under the direction of the recreation programmer for classes, perform a variety of duties instructing or leading individuals in a variety of recreation classes.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICSClass Instructor VI -$17 per hourThis position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience supervising and/or teaching a program/class directly related to the class/program area to be taught.
Advanced professional certifications related to the program area being taught are preferred and may be required dependent on the program area.
Incumbents will supervise/teach programs and/or classes independently.
Incumbents may be responsible for the supervision of Class Instructors I - V.
Essential Functions:
(All incumbents may not perform all duties).
Assists, plans, organizes, and instructs a class in a specialized recreation area.
Explains and demonstrates activity techniques to class or program participants.
Prepares and/or submits orders for class materials and supplies.
Observes necessary precautions to insure safety of participants.
Takes appropriate actions in emergency situations.
Maintains and submits attendance records and reports and submits incident reports as necessary.
Orders and maintains supplies and equipment for the assigned locations.
Supervises and insures class area readiness.
Sets up and monitors class equipment and ensures its return in serviceable condition.
Understands and implements Parks and Recreation Department Policies and procedures.
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and
Experience:
Class Instructor IMinimum age of 18.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Class Instructor II In addition to the requirements of Class Instructor I:
One year of experience as a Class Instructor I or Minimum of one year experience teaching and/or supervising classes in a closely related program area.
Class Instructor III In addition to the requirements of Class Instructor II:
One year of experience as a Class Instructor II or Minimum of 18 months experience teaching and/or supervising classes in a closely related program area.
Class Instructor IV In addition to the requirements of Class Instructor III:
One year of experience as a Class Instructor III or Minimum of two years experience teaching and/or supervising classes in a closely related program area.
Class Instructor V In addition to the requirements of Class Instructor IV:
One year of experience as a Class Instructor IV or Minimum of three years experience teaching and/or supervising classes in a closely related program area.
Class Instructor VI In addition to the requirements of Class Instructor V:
One year of experience as a Class Instructor V or Minimum of five years experience teaching and/or supervising classes in a closely related program area.
Advanced certifications in the related program area may be required.
CPR/First Aid certification may be required.
Licenses and Certifications:
Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate may be required at time of hire/reclassification, dependent on program area.
Advanced certifications related to the program area being taught may be required.
Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record and ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver's license within required time frame.
Recommended Skills Cpr First Aid And Preparedness Medical Emergency Recreation Teaching Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
